Why my freezer keeps freezing up

If your upright freezer is automatic defrost and is still freezing up , there are a few potential solutions. First, check the door seal. Is it tight, or are there gaps? If the seal is not tight, air from outside the freezer will get into the appliance and can cause ice build up.


When the bags of veg are inserte does the door have to be forced shut on them?

Also, the upper part you describe is the larder. Ice droplets are supposed to form on the back,. Is the inside fan running? And the fan failing would cause freezing around the cooling coils. Try cleaning out your coils, make sure good air flow.

My refrigerator freezer coils are freezing up. My whirlpool freezer is frosting up. Take apart the panel of the fresh food section where the temperature adjustment is. Locate part number and take it loose.


Sometimes there is a hole there and you do not have to take apart that panel. If not then you will need to disassemble and get that part loose. Why does my fridge keep freezing up ? Once you take the back panel off. Absolutely nothing in the way! Could the defrost timer be off a little, not allowing all the water to drain before turning on. What keeps happening is the freezer drainhole keeps freezing up , causing water to drip down into my fridge.

When the water arrives at the tip of the drain, it is close to freezing temperature and the drain typically freezes shut. Before attempting to work on any appliance, make sure that all power (electricity) and utilities. Store your food in a good quality esky that will keep it cool or switch to non perishable food for a day or two-Turn the fridge off and make sure everything is out of the fridge and freezer including ice build up. If possible leave both doors open -take care if you have small children make. Another possible cause of frost in fridge or freezer. If the fridge or freezer is not level, the cabinet may become twiste this can cause the door to not fit properly and the seal to not seal properly. This can allow gaps which again allows warm moist air to be drawn into the appliance.


Should you have ice on the outside of your fridge freezer it will most likely be at the bottom, near the feet. This will be the smooth solid type of ice and has been caused by the cold air of the fridge coming into contact with the warm air outside it or from water leaking through a hole in the fridge freezer. This allows warm air to enter the freezer side, condense and freeze, causing frost buildup over time. Open the freezer door and examine the flap inside the ice chute.


It should be flush against the housing. If it is not, empty the ice bin and make sure there is no ice or debris preventing the flap from closing. There is a build up of ice at the back of the fridge.


Eventually it packed up completley and the freezer stopped freezing. If the problem you are having is that only the top shelf is freezing in your freezer , it could be due to a low amount of Freon. In a non-frost free upright total freezer , the shelves are actually the Freon lines, and a low Freon level could cause this issue. GE Water Dispenser Line keeps freezing up. I went out a bought some new (thicker than original) insulation today and really packed it in there along with a vapor barrier between the freezer door styrofoam and the new insulation.


I have my fingers crossed.
