Freezer amps used

Once the compressor is running, it takes 2-amps to keep the compressor running. When the compressor kicks off (standard cycle is about off, on for a new freezer), then it draws NO POWER at all, unless it has a heated lid-seal, and then it will draw about 1-amp. How many amps really depends on the size of freezer. Has anybody used this setup without issue?

Edit: Nevermind: answered here. A typical 16-cubic-foot, frost-free refrigerator draws amps of electricity and uses 7watts.

The amps are determined by dividing the watts by 1volts in the United States. Watts is generally defined as the amount of power (or energy) an appliance uses (consumes) when operated at its maximum capacity for hour. Amps on the other hand is defined as how much energy an appliance draws, or the rate of energy that flows through wire when an appliance is used for hour. The exact amps that an individual freezer draws is on the rating plate and should be used if placing the freezer on a generator or other auxiliary power source. Electricity usage of a Freezer.

Older freezer s will use over 1 more energy than newer Energy Star rated models, a modern freezer will use between 1and 4watts. I recieved a Kenmore freezer from my parents as a gift. Real power-use measurements from a chest freezer.

Chest Freezer : 1Watts. Freezer s work like refrigerators, by compressing air or fluid into a small space and then letting that air or fluid expand into another space. Compressing the fluid makes it give off heat, which happens in the back of the freezer. Divide the watts by the voltage (120) and you will find your amps.

Older freezers will use over 1 more energy than newer Energy Star rated models, a modern freezer will use between 1and 4watts. Standalone Freezer Wattage. Freezer wattage generally varies depending on the size of the freezer. For instance, a 20-cubic-foot standalone freezer uses 3watts, while a 15-cubic-foot freezer uses 3watts, according to the Otter Tail Power Co.

When going on a camping trip, people often wonder how much power their portable fridge will be using. Many appliances have a range of settings, so the actual amount of power an appliance may consume depends on the setting being used.

Transport freezing apparatus are needed for operations in more difficult terrains, as they are preferred to stationary refrigeration equipment. Watt-hours compare equally whether 1 2 or 1volt units. These cannot be stored in a frost free freezer.
