Hermetic vs scroll compressor

The scroll compressor produces slightly greater superheat and considerably greater subcooling than the reciprocating compressor. The increase in subcooling for the scroll design is a result of the liquid injection system reducing the amount of de-superheating required in the condenser. It is used in air conditioning equipment, as an automobile supercharger (where it is known as a scroll -type supercharger) and as a vacuum pump.


The hermetically sealed reciprocating compressor is widely used for the refrigeration and air conditioning applications. In all the household refrigerators, deep freezers, window air conditioners, split air conditioners, most of the packaged air conditioners, the hermetically sealed reciprocating compressor is used.
