Why does my fridge freeze

It could be fruit, vegetables, meat, or even dairy—accidental fridge freezing can be disastrous. When your fridge is freezing your foo the air damper may either be broken or stuck in the open position. An air damper opens and closes to allow the proper amount of cold air to enter your appliance.


A damper regulates the size of the opening, while a fan controls circulation. I estimate I wasted about $worth of produce a week with this crisper problem. That works out to $5a year, which is bad. I open the crisper drawer vents and everything freezes. I close the vents and everything freezes. I did a little digging later and it took me WAY too long to find the answer.
