Why is my freezer not freezing

Even though the fan works the compressor might not be. That is most likely due to the timer which turns on the compressor every hour or minutes. Timers usually last about years. You can change them yourself. I work as a maintenance Man at an apt complex.

A refrigerator not freezing is considered an emergency, and should get same day at any hour service.

If your freezer is frost-free, the trouble is likely to be with the defrost-cycle switch. These are easy to replace and you can order the right one for your model from RepairParts. Otherwise, call an appliance service company to send a. The seal around the freezer door can be another problem when your freezer is running but not freezing.

Check or test each item, starting with the items at the top of the page. We decided to clean the fridge from top to bottom and had the fridge and freezer open for about two hrs to do all the cleaning… now the fridge is sparkling clean but stopped working. The fridge sounds like it’s working but is not cold and the freezer is not making ice cubes.

Turned out my freezer was frozen solid.

I had to thaw out my freezer and put it back together. A manual defrost is easy, if inconvenient and possibly messy: 1. Things that have been in there and frozen are staying frozen, but anything new that needs to freeze is not. Freezer is cold but not freezing at all. If the evaporator fan motor is not working, the freezer will not cool. The refrigerator may have one or more evaporator fan motors depending on the model and evaporator locations.

If the start relay isn’t working properly, the compressor may run intermittently or may not run at all. If the compressor won’t run, the freezer will not cool. If ice is built up on the coils, a hairdryer can assist in defrosting them. Close the freezer door and see if you can pull out the dollar bill. If you can, something is interfering with the seal.

It is not staying cold enough. My ice cream is soft and only half frozen. The ice cubes are slow to come out and are half the size. They are also half melted when I dispense them from the ice maker. The freezer began making ice and freezing food again.

Three hours later I noticed the ice in the ice maker was melting.

The evaporator fan in the freezer is running. The condenser fan is running. I have adjusted the freezer and refrigerator temperatures to -and 37. The Compressor is kicking on. My HIGHTEC refrigerator has a half size top freezer and a base refrigerator but both won’t work (ie freezer won’t freeze and fridge side won’t cool).

Make sure someone did not set the freezer to fridge temps and vice versa. It will go lukewarm if the kids keep opening it to check on the status of their Popsicles. Defrost system problems, dirty condenser coils, fan failures, leaky door gaskets or control problems can lead to your freezer not getting cold enough. A Low freon charge can cause the evaporator to be cool but not cold enough to freeze.

To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. The only problem is that it goes through the cycles much faster. If you have a Frigidaire freezer that is experiencing this problem, consult your instruction manual to find out where the fan system is in your freezer. You may need to pull the freezer away from the wall and access the back paneling in order to find the source of the problem.

Evaporator Fan is not working. If it fails, you might need to replace it. Check out this handy guide below to find out how to replace your evaporator fan. This is for a Whirlpool refrigerator, but the main ideas are the same for all refrigerator brands.

If everything is clear it probably has a slow leak. There could be a multitude of reasons that your freezer isn’t cold. One reason may be that your condenser coils under your fridge are dusty and dirty. This makes it hard for the heat to disperse evenly.

Soft ice cream is a sign that your freezer is not set cold enough, or it is not freezing properly. I assume you checked the setting, so it is likely not working properly. Check underneath to see if the coil is full of dust, this is a common issue.

Most have a coil underneath, and it can be vacuumed. It started with not keeping ice cream frozen. Then the icemaker was not working. But then it started to work again. I made some ice last night and found it froze and it was really cold in the freezer.

Frozen vegetables are col but not frozen. Or could be your T-stat or compressor, if the compressor is not running. My HVAC Tech hubby says it is the compressor.

If the freezer section is too cold and the fresh food section temperature is normal you should suspect that the air damper or freezer control is adjusted improperly or may be defective, and is deflecting more than the normal amount of air into the freezer section and not enough into the fresh food compartment.
